St. Joseph Conference of the St. Vincent de Paul
For the past 120 years, the St. Joseph Conference has been helping the poor, lonely and neglected of our community as part of the larger Cincinnati council of the Saint Vincent de Paul, which is celebrating its 150th year of service to the people of Cincinnati.
The purpose of the Society is the spiritual development of its members and to live out the the tenets of the Catholic faith in purposeful and practical ways. The Society “seeks” in a spirit of justice and charity and by person-to-person involvement to help those who are suffering. The Society believes no act of charity is foreign to them. The hope is to help meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of those who need help, whether they are in hospitals, nursing homes, homeless shelters, prisons, or in their own homes, all to bear witness to the love of Christ.
The Saint Vincent de Paul Society is an international, Catholic lay organization, founded in 1833 in Paris by Frederic Ozanam and his companions to meet the needs of the suffering poor. Today the society comprises its members from 150 countries, all who help others through neighborhood ministries.
As a volunteer with the St. Joseph Conference of the St. Vincent de Paul, you can help others in a direct and meaningful way. Vincentians are people just like you from all walks of life. They are business professional, teachers, retirees, busy moms and days, clerical workers, and tradesmen–really anyone who wants to be of service to the community by giving their time and talent for the greater good. Join our conference and start making a difference. And we are certain you will grow spiritually in the process.
