The mission of the St. Joseph School Alumni Association is to recruit former students of St. Joseph Catholic School to create and maintain lifelong connections with alumni and friends. The association supports St. Joseph School in their endeavor to provide educational, spiritual, and material needs for their scholars and faculty.
The association was founded in 2010 upon the request of the parish community. Here is an except from the first newsletter of President Diane McDowell, who with others formed this group at that time:
Last year a few of us were asked to resume the alumni association for St. Joseph Catholic School. We accepted the challenge and in July asked that you become members. Many of you joined at the annual St. Joseph picnic. We thank you for the support. As the mission above indicates, the association is about supporting St. Joseph Catholic School. As a product of the school, I have fond memories of my years at St. Joseph’s and of the staff and students who I met there. Some of my closest friends today are those that I met as a grade school student at St. Joseph. However, it is not about us, but about what we can do to reach back and help those who are coming behind us. Please join the St. Joseph Catholic School community by supporting all endeavors to continue keeping it as a viable part of the West End community. Have a prosperous and blessed 2011.
These same words written by Ms. McDowell ring true today as this group has continued to support the school in immeasurable ways through these past nine years. Please consider joining this important group of volunteers who have paid forward to other scholars for the wonderful education they have received at St. Joseph Catholic School.
